TRUSSVILLE –In Trussville City Schools, three elementary school campuses serving grades K-5 will open for the first time in the Fall of 2016. The seven mil ad valorem tax passed February 25, 2014 has been budgeted to renovate the historic Cahaba Elementary School, build a new Magnolia Elementary School, and combine Paine Primary and Paine Intermediate into one campus. All portable buildings will be removed and all elementary schools will have a tornado shelter.
Dr. Tygar Evans will be recommended to the Board to be principal of Paine Elementary School. Dr. Evans has been a principal for 21 years and he brings a wealth of experience to Trussville City Schools from Rome, GA. He has served as Paine Elementary principal this year alongside Betsy Schmitt and Autumm Jeter. Assisting Dr. Evans in his administrative team for Paine Elementary School are current assistant principals Kristi Stacks and Melanie Glover.

Dr. Evans stated, “I am thrilled to be named the principal of Paine Elementary School. My excitement comes from following Mrs. Bruno and Mrs. Schmitt as veteran former principals along with building relationships with an outstanding school staff. My goal is to be certain that every child is safe, secure, and receives the best education possible.”
Dr. Autumm Jeter will be recommended to the Board to be principal of Magnolia Elementary School. Dr. Jeter has been a principal for 9 years and she brings many honors and accomplishments from her years of experience as an elementary school principal in the State of Alabama. She is currently President of the Alabama Association of Elementary School Administrators and is in the top 3 for National Distinguished Principal of the Year.
Dr. Jeter stated, “I am extremely elated to be named the principal of Magnolia Elementary School. I look forward to becoming part of this community and building a dynamic school culture that is safe, loving, focused on academics, and leading our school to greatness!”
The principal of Cahaba Elementary School will be assigned after the district completes a search for a seasoned principal with years of experience and a proven record of success.
