HOOVER –An overnight manhunt led to the arrest of Christopher Ammons Kemp, 29, who was wanted in the assault of his ex-girlfriend in Hoover that resulted in the death of her unborn child
Captain Gregg Rector of the Hoover Police Department said officers responded to an assault call at 6:35 p.m. on Larkspur Drive and found a 28-year-old woman with significant injuries walking near a roadway. The victim identified Kemp, her ex-boyfriend, as her attacker.
The woman was seven months pregnant. She was treated at the scene and transported to UAB Hospital. The baby did not survive.
Police issued an alert for Kemp and a manhunt for the suspect began.
Kemp was arrested in the Center Point area around 1:30 a.m., Hoover police said.
