JEFFERSON COUNTY – Sheriff’s Detectives are investigating a sexual assault that occurred in western Jefferson County during the early morning hours of March 17.

The 24-year-old female victim reported that she had stopped at a convenience store in the 3800 block of Highway 25 in Montevallo. She was approached by a black male who identified himself only as John.
According to Jefferson County Chief Deputy Randy Christian, the male asked her to give him a ride to the Wilton community which is a short distance from the store. The victim agreed to give the man a ride.
After getting in the car the man told the victim that he had a gun and that as long as she did not “do anything crazy” he would not hurt her. He forced her to drive to an unfamiliar location near Bessemer where he sexually assaulted her. He then forced her to drive back to Brierfield community in Bibb County and drop him off on a rural road.
The victim described the suspect as a black male wearing an orange shirt with white stripes and blue jeans. He is said to be 5’8” and 170 pounds.
