From Staff Reports
JEFFERSON COUNTY – Work continues on Interstate 65 as part of the Alabama Department of Transportation’s project to build an interchange to connect I-65 to I-22 in Jefferson County.
Weather permitting, today thru Saturday, April 2 between 6 p.m. and 5 a.m. there will be multiple lane closures and rolling roadblocks to slow I-65 traffic northbound and southbound from Fultondale exit 265 to 33rd Avenue North exit 263. Traffic interruptions are needed to perform asphalt milling and paving.
This operation will require the use of multiple Alabama State Troopers. In the event of inclement weather, asphalt milling and paving will not take place.
Once completed, I-22 will be an interstate highway between Birmingham and Memphis.
A reduced speed limit of 45 mph is in effect throughout the work zone. Motorists are requested to consider using alternate routes, adjust arrival/departure times, observe work zone speed limits and other work zone signs, and use extreme caution in this area. ALDOT thanks motorists for their patience during this construction operation to improve Alabama’s roadways.
