BIRMINGHAM –The Birmingham police reported that detectives are conducting a homicide investigation following the discovery of a man shot to death in his vehicle. The incident occurred Wednesday in the 500 block of Huron Street.
The victim’s name is being withheld pending next of kin notifications.
“On Wednesday, April 6, 2016 around 6:49 a.m., officers from the West Precinct responded to the listed location on a person shot,” Lieutenant Sean Edwards said in a statement released by the department. “Upon arrival, officers observed a Chevy S10 sitting in the middle of the street still running. Officers observed the victim sitting in the driver’s seat suffering from what appeared to be multiple gunshot wounds to the body. Birmingham Fire and Rescue pronounced the victim deceased.”
Investigators believe the victim might have known the shooter based on evidence found at the scene.
Witnesses stated they heard several gun shots and observed a black male dressed in all black running from the vehicle.
