TUSCALOOSA — An investigation into a school employee exhibiting inappropriate behavior was opened on March 31 in Tuscaloosa.
Investigations indicated that a City of Tuscaloosa School teacher, 32-year-old Jarvis Lanier, inappropriately touched five female students between the ages of 13 and 17 during track practice on the grounds of the Central High School Football Field House.
The instances occurred from February to April of 2016.
Lanier has been an employee of the City of Tuscaloosa School System as a teacher at Central Elementary Primary School, and also the track coach at Westlawn Middle School for two years.
Lanier’s arrest is pending on five counts of a school employee having sexual contact with a student under the age of 19. He is in the Tuscaloosa County Jail, and once he is booked in, will require a $30,000 bond.
The investigation is ongoing due to the nature of the incidents.
