From The Trussville Tribune staff reports
CLAY –A Clay teen sustained serious injuries in a wreck on Old Springville Road early Saturday morning.
Friends of the teenager have confirmed that she is senior Clay-Chalkville High School cheerleader, Natelie Ayers.
Dozens of Ayers’ friends have taken to social media requesting prayers from the community for the popular student and her family.
“Natelie is a wonderful young lady that is loved greatly by the CCHS family,” Clay-Chalkville principal Michael Lee said. “It’s never easy to see one of our young people dealing with a tough situation, but I know that Natelie is strong and will have amazing support from her family and friends as she goes through the recovery process. I ask that everyone in our community continue to pray for Natelie and her family during this time.”
According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, at 2:23 a.m. on Saturday, a vehicle driven by an 18-year-old female ran off the roadway. The driver lost control and the vehicle overturned.
The driver was ejected and vehicle came to rest on the roof in the middle of the road.
The driver suffered serious injuries and was transported to the hospital by Center Point Fire.
A Go Fund Me has been created to help with Natalie’s medical expenses.
We will continue to update this story as more information becomes available.
