TRUSSVILLE — The Trussville YMCA held its first annual tennis tournament on Saturday, April 16, with 50 ladies playing at three USTA levels.
The event raised $1,300 to be used toward scholarships for area youth into programs at the YMCA, such as swimming lessons, after-school care and summer day camps. A full 100 percent of the funds collected go directly to programs and services that help kids in the community, “a fact that makes us all extremely proud,” according to tennis chairperson Karen Lehr.
“We’d like to thank all the sponsors of the tournament for their role in this successful day,” said Lehr. “Thanks to many kind-hearted and community-minded people the tournament was a huge success. Because of their generosity ,the lives of many families and individuals in our community will be enriched.”
Publix, Fresh Value Market, Winn Dixie, Buffalo Rock Distributors, All Star Trophy, and Golden Flake all supported the tournament.
