Storms that passed through the metro area triggered a severe thunderstorm warnings and brought damage throughout the area.
Alabama Power reports 17,000 in the Birmingham area are without power.
Lightning strikes are believed to have ignited fires in homes and apartments in Leeds, Gardendale, and Alabaster.

There was a burning tree on the power lines on service road about 6:15. Fire was running down the power lines.

Prayers. We know what it’s like to have house fire from lightening, Sept, 2014, We lived in a hotel for nearly a year. I get nervous every time there is a storm.
