BLOUNT COUNTY –Tragedy struck a family Saturday when two sisters, ages 11-years-old and 13-years-old drowned in the locust Fork River in Blount County.
The girls were swimming in the area of Deans Ferry with their father and another adult, who unsuccessfully tried to save them, when they drowned.
The bodies of the sisters were recovered by Warrior Fire and Rescue personnel at 6:36 p.m. and 7:45 p.m., according to Blount County Sheriff Loyd Arrington.
The girl’s names have not yet been released.

If they tried to save them, why did rescue recover the bodies? Seems odd to me.

Other articles state the men looked for the girls and could not locate them in the current. I’m sure that’s what they are referring to as “save”. It took the rescue team a while to locate them as well, according to the same article. It’s a terrible accident.
