PINSON — The city of Pinson has become a landlord – sort of. The council recently purchased some property between Pinson Valley Parkway and Old Pinson
Road. After the property was surveyed, it was discovered that a fence roughly 132 feet long was encroaching more than 30 feet into the property. The fence belongs to Daniel Buchanan, and is part of an automotive body shop. Buchanan has agreed to give up any claim of ownership to the strip of land in question. He has agreed to petition his property to be annexed into the city and he has agreed to lease the strip of land for $12 per year from the city.
Part of that property could one day be turned into a road linking the road with the parkway.
City Hall will be getting some new fixtures in the way of filing cabinets and printing and copying equipment.
By law the city is required to keep records in fireproof filing cabinets. The council voted to buy three new cabinets at a total cost of $2,625.
The Council also voted to purchase a new copy machine and software and support allowing the machine to be connected with the computer system. The total cost of the system through Berney Office Solutions is $8,124.
