BIRMINGHAM –A man who is believed to have been shot in the area of 41st Street North has been transported to UAB hospital, according to Birmingham police.
The victim was transported from a Texaco service station on the Pinson Valley Parkway. No arrest has been made at this time and police continue to search for the gunman. The shooting remains under investigation.
An earlier media report from WIAT indicated that the shooting took place in the Pinson area, but sources have confirmed that was not the case.
“No sir, I don’t think the shooting was anywhere near Pinson,” a police source who did not want to be named because he is not authorized to make a public statement said. “Our PIO will get you the details, but this is going to be over on 41st Street. We’re still investigating, though.”
Sergeant Jack Self of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office which covers Pinson and Center Point also confirmed that his department was not investigating the shooting.
