TRUSSVILLE — Paine Primary School students raised $26,134.94 for the American Heart Association during the 2015-16 school year.
Students participated in Jump Rope for Heart during their PE classes to raise funds. The total raised at Paine placed the school as the number one jump/hoops
school in the territory.
Teachers and coaches coordinate ump Rope for Heart or Hoops for Heart events to take place at their convince during the school year. Events can take place during PE, lunch, or even after school. Jump Rope for Heart began in 1979 after official partnering with the American Heart Association, and is now one of the biggest success stories in U.S. fundraising history.
According to the American Heart Association website, since its inception, Jump Rope for Heart has generated more than $750 million to fund research and education about heart disease, which is the number one killer of all Americans.
The event is currently held at more than 28,000 schools nationwide.
The event was coordinated by Scott Burnett, Jaime Giangrosso, Cindy Boswell and Scott Cooper.
