CENTER POINT —Just before 2 a.m. on Monday, deputies responded to a report of several shots being fired in the 20th block of Shadow Wood Circle in Center Point. While they were on the way, a medical call was received indicating that a person had been shot in the chest. They arrived to find a 38-year-old male victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest.
He was transported to an area hospital with minor injuries. He was treated and released.
Information at the scene is that the victim had been involved in an altercation with a group of other men earlier in the morning. He returned to his apartment. As the victim was leaving his apartment, he again encountered the men. One of them pulled out a handgun and shot him.
Deputies will continue to investigate and do not have a suspect in custody at this time.
