From The Trussville Tribune staff reports
TRUSSVILLE –One person has died in a crash on Interstate 59 southbound just before the Interstate 459 split, according to the Alabama State Troopers office.
Alabama State Troopers are on scene of a two-vehicle crash on I-59 north at mile marker 138 near I-459 junction, ALEA said in a statement.
There is one confirmed fatality and all lanes are blocked. Motorists need to use caution in that area due to heavy traffic and use alternate routes if possible.
Troopers had reopened all lanes by 11:30 a.m.
Trussville experienced heavy traffic congestion on Chalkville Road and U.S. Highway 11 as vehicles exit the Interstate seeking alternative routes during the clea-up.
Updates will follow when available. The crash occurred around 8:55 am.
