TRUSSVILLE — Trust may not be a word that many associate with the automotive mechanics industry, but a new business in Trussville is trying to change that. Vulcan Tire and Automotive opened in Trussville in April of 2016 and now offer a wide range of automotive services, all with the promise of honesty and integrity.
“The industry as a whole gets such a bad reputation,” said co-owner Chris Cutshall. “We kind of want to take that out of it.”
Cutshall and Richard Estes purchased the business from Trussville Tire in March and are now excited to be serving the Trussville community. “We do everything that any other automotive shop does,” said Cutshall. “Anything from oil change, tires, full-service mechanical work… You name it, we can pretty much do it.”
In the spirit of integrity, Estes and Cutshall are taking steps to build a good relationship with the community. From honoring all previous warranties to offering in-house financing, every decision is made with the customer in mind. “When we started this, we wanted to put ourselves in this position of ‘what would we expect out of it?’” Cutshall explained.
Their desire to make their customers’ experiences pleasant is evident in every detail, down to the cappuccino maker and popcorn machine in the lobby. Customer work stations offer people a place to connect while they wait, and a shuttle service is available for customers who don’t want to deal with the hassle of bringing their car in.
“We want to make it as easy to the end user as possible,” said Cutshall.
While they hope to open more locations around the Birmingham area, Cutshall and Estes felt that Trussville was the perfection location to get their start.
“Trussville’s such a growing community,” Cutshall said. “We looked at many locations throughout the Birmingham area to acquire and to start our business, and there was nothing better than this location specifically. And also, Trussville being Trussville, it was just an added benefit.”
As the company expands, Cutshall and Estes hope to maintain the reputation that they have already begun to build.
“I think that the only way to gain the community’s trust is to make sure that you’re doing the right thing at all times,” Cutshall said. “Because the last thing that we want is a car to leave here and a customer not feel 100% satisfied.”

I was a customer of the previous owners for years. I am going to give them a chance going forward.
