CLAY – Mayor Charles Webster of Clay announced his candidacy for reelection on Thursday.
“Over the last four years there has been tremendous progress in our great city,” Webster said in a press release.
Webster’s accomplishments while serving Clay for the last four years include passing a balanced budget each year, creating and putting $1 million into a contingency fund and donating thousands of dollars to schools in Clay city limits to aid in the building of a new turf football field and an additional career tech building, as well as other technology upgrades. Police presence has quadrupled, and Webster said the city is in the process of hiring additional contract deputies.
“I have worked to foster governmental transparency by creating a records request system and maintaining an up to date website,” Webster said. “City Hall, Public Works, Seniors Center, the Library and Parks and Recreation are running more effectively and efficiently by trimming excess and our leadership working closely with department heads.”
Webster said some of the worst roads in the city have been paved, and there are plans to continue paving level two roads.
“I can confidently say that I have fulfilled all of my 2012 campaign promises and am looking forward to continuing the progress over the next four years,” Webster said.
