CENTER POINT – Allen Wayne Hatley, 53 of Attalla, is in the Jefferson County Jail after hitting a woman, stabbing a man and struggling with Jefferson County Sheriff’s Deputies.
Al.com reports the incident took place Monday evening in Center Point. Deputies were called to the 400 block of 19th Terrace N.E. around 7 p.m. on a burglary in progress.
Once on the scene, deputies were told that Hatley had broken into a home, assaulted two people inside and fled the scene. The female victim told investigators she knew Hatley and had told him not to come to her home, however, when she arrived he was in the front yard. He hit her in the face, causing a bruise and breaking her nose. He then went into the residence where he stabbed a male victim with a pocketknife, and also hit him in the head. Both victims were treated on the scene by paramedics.
Deputies found Hatley hiding in the woods nearby and he was taken into custody. While they were transporting him to the jail he passed out, and later deputies learned he had ingested heroin. He was transported to the hospital for treatment.
After being released, Hatley was booked into the Jefferson County Jail, pending a $25,900 bond. He has been charged with first degree assault, second degree assault, first degree burglary, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and attempting to elude police.
