From The Trussville Tribune staff reports
TOWNVILLE, S.C. –According to FOX News, a teen suspect is in custody following a shooting at an elementary school in Townville, South Carolina.
Lifesaver helicopters have been reported arriving on the scene where reports say there are “a number of victims.”
According to FOX Carolina, the shooting took place on the playground and the shooter never made it inside the school.
Two students were taken by airflight and one teacher was transported by ambulance.
One student was shot in the leg and the other was shot in the foot. The teacher was shot in the shoulder.
The school principal is being credited for placing the school on immediate lock down, which authorities believe saved lives.
All other students have been accounted for and evacuated to another location, Oakdale Baptist Church.
Police said the shooter had been expelled from middle school a year earlier for bringing a hatchet to school. He was currently being home schooled. Anderson County Sheriff’s Office said the teen suspect’s father was also found dead in his home on Osborne Road Wednesday afternoon. Coroner Greg Shore said 47-year-old Jeffrey Osborne was found shot to death. The home is less than three miles from the school, which is located at 105 Townville School Road near Lake Hartwell.
