BIRMINGHAM – The Birmingham Police Department is conducting a homicide investigation after an incident on Friday.
Officers were called to the 2600 block of 21st Street SW around 11:30 a.m. on a body found. Upon arrival, officers found a black male lying on his back outside an abandoned house. Neighbors said they smelled an odor coming from the direction of the home, and officers found the victim behind the home. They also stated they heard shots fired in the days prior to the discovery of the body.
The coroner’s office took possession of the body to perform an autopsy, which revealed the male had been shot multiple times. He has not been identified at this time, due to the condition of the body.
