TRUSSVILLE – Express Employment Professionals is the largest franchise-owned staffing company in the world, with 770 locations in the United States, South Africa and Canada.
The Trussville location of Express Employment has been in the area for two years, with the goal of “putting a million people to work,” which they have done five times over worldwide.
The Trussville location is the fastest growing office in the southern region, as well as in the company. Express Employment offers temporary placements, temporary to permanent as well as direct hire, and offers many benefits to those working with them rather than searching for a job on their own. Express places employees in commercial, industrial, office, administrative and specialty positions.
“The benefit of finding someone a temporary job is for us to give someone work so they can earn a paycheck for their family until they find a permanent job, but our goal is to find them a full-time job they can go to every day, that’s steady,” Trussville and Hoover owner Daniel Morgan said.
Anyone who walks through the doors at Express will fill out an application, or can do so online. Afterward they will interview with a representative to discuss what they’d like to do, how much money they’d like to make, what hours they’d like to work and in what geographical location, and the Express representative helps find a job that meets that criteria.
“The benefit of them coming to us is we’ve worked with over 200 companies in Birmingham, so when they come to us, it’s like applying to 200 plus companies, rather than applying to each one themselves,” Morgan said.
Morgan said the goal of the office is two fold: to find their clients good people that want to work for them, but also to find employees a job that will use their skill set.
“You may have a set of skills and I may have 10 clients that fit that skill set,” Morgan said. “We want to put them in a place they can be successful. If I put them where they don’t want to be, I’m not doing the client any favors and I’m not doing the employee any favors.”
Another benefit of working with an employment agency is that Express Employment offers medical, dental, vision, vacation and holiday pay, 401k contributions, training opportunities, scholarship openings and workplace safety incentives to employees.
“Our associates want to stay on our payroll because of the benefits we offer, and clients want to keep associates on our payroll because then they’re not the ones having to pay for holidays, vacation, healthcare, etc.,” Morgan said. “It’s a win-win both ways.”
Morgan said he enjoys getting to find opportunities for employees that they wouldn’t have found on their own, and also making an impact on the community.
“I wanted to make more of an impact on people every day as a business owner,” Morgan said. “Owning a small business, I can make more of a direct impact on people than I could working for a large, corporate company.”
Morgan’s day consists of meeting with associates, training internal staff on what types of employees and skills they seek, coaching and keeping up with compliance guidelines.
“I’d attribute our success to our team and the way we seek to help people and treat our clients and associates,” Morgan said. “We’re not looking to fill jobs, we’re looking to build relationships in the community.”
The Trussville location of Express Employment Professionals is located at 1423 Gadsden Highway, #115.
