Another woman has accused Roy Moore of sexually assaulting her when she was a teenage in Gadsden.
In press conference on Monday with her attorney Gloria Allred, Beverly Young Nelson described how she worked at the Hickory House in Gadsden as a 16-year-old high school student. Nelson brought her high school yearbook, which had been signed by Moore, to the press conference.
According to Nelson, Moore was the district attorney and was often flirtatious with her when he came in the restaurant. Nelson said Moore offered her a ride one night when her boyfriend was late picking her up.
She said Moore drove her behind the building where he groped her breast and grabbed her by the neck, forcing her head down toward his crotch. She said she yelled for Moore to stop and began to cry. Moore told her that she was just a little girl and he was the D.A. and no one would believe her story, Nelson said.
Nelson said she believed Moore was going to rape her.
According to Nelson, at some point Moore stopped and she ended up on the ground outside of Moore’s car and he took off burning rubber. Her boyfriend arrived a short time later, but Nelson said she didn’t mention the attack to him because of his violent temper.
Nelson said her neck was bruised and she quit her job at the Hickory House the next day.
“I want Mr. Moore to know that he no longer has any power over me, and I no longer live in fear of him,” Nelson said.
Allred said she confirmed the story with Nelson’s mother and sister, both said Nelson had relayed the story to them.
The Moore campaign responded to the new allegations immediately issuing a statement that said,
“Let it be understood: the truth will come forward, we will pursue all legal options against these false claims and Judge Moore will be vindicated,” Moore campaign chairman Bill Armistead said.
“We’ve said this before and we’ll say it again: Judge Moore is an innocent man and has never had any sexual misconduct with anyone. This is a witch hunt against a man who has had an impeccable career for over 30 years and has always been known as a man of high character.
“Gloria Allred is a sensationalist leading a witch hunt, and she is only around to create a spectacle. Allred was the attorney who claims credit for giving us Roe v. Wade which has resulted in the murder of tens of millions of unborn babies.”
