TALLADEGA — The Presbyterian Home for Children in Talladega has hired Doug Marshall as their new President and Chief Executive Officer, according to a release.
Marshall brings to the statewide nonprofit more than 30 years of experience in corporate and nonprofit leadership at large Birmingham firms, including Energen, Alagasco (which is now Spire) and Ernst & Young.
He has also served as CFO at United Ability (formerly UCP of Greater Birmingham) and most recently as CFO and Director of Community Relations at Alabama Family Trust. His background includes holding key leadership roles while volunteering in numerous nonprofit organizations across Alabama.
The Alabaster resident will take over as President and CEO of the Presbyterian Home for Children on Nov. 20.
“I believe that my entire life and career have prepared me for this moment to become the next President and CEO of Presbyterian Home for Children,” Marshall said. “I look forward to moving the Presbyterian Home for Children forward and to continue providing life-changing hope for homeless children, young adults and families across Alabama.”
Besides being a CPA, Marshall also holds a Minister of Theology degree. He serves as a Life and Career Coach at Grace Ministries, Inc. in Birmingham and is a member of the National Association of Social Workers, Alabama Counseling Association, Alabama Interfaith Coalition on Aging, and the Alabama Association of Non-Profits. Marshall was named a 2017 Top 50 Over 50 honoree by Positive Maturity.
George Fritsma, Presbyterian Home for Children’s Moderator for the Board of Trustees, said the board conducted an exhaustive search that identified many well-qualified and motivated individuals.
“We felt led by the Holy Spirit to Doug, who tells us that he believes his whole life has stood as God’s preparation for this important mission. He looks forward to joining our ministry, indeed, his wish to begin on November 20 reflects his desire to participate in the lives of our residents and staff as they celebrate Thanksgiving,” Fritsma said.
