BIRMINGHAM — The Jefferson County Corner’s Office is looking for the family of a homicide victim who was shot and killed in the 2600 block of Seventh Avenue South on Wednesday, according to a release.
The victim, who was identified as 53-year-old Michael Shane Stepp, was found lying unresponsive in the roadway at 1:43 a.m. Wednesday.
An autopsy found that the cause of Stepp’s death was due to the multiple gunshot wounds that he sustained, and that the death is a homicide.
At this time the coroner’s office has been unable to locate Stepp’s family. It is believed that he is originally from Baldwin County, and that he may have family residing in Fairhope or Mobile.
The coroner’s office is requesting the assistance of the public in locating the deceased’s family and is asking that family or anyone with knowledge of family to please contact the Jefferson County Coroner/Medical Examiner’s Office at 205-930-3603.
