From The Trussville Tribune staff reports
Former Clay-Chalkville running back Terelle West made the most of his first career start at running back for Middle Tennessee.
He rushed for a career-high 170 yards Saturday in the 41-10 win over Old Dominion and scored a career best two touchdowns in earning Conference USA Player of the Week honors. West’s previous high was an 83-yard effort against Alabama A&M in the 2016 season opener. The win made MT bowl eligible for the sixth-straight season.
West, who went into the game with 73 rushing yards on the season in just five games played because of injury, had a terrific day. Besides the rushing yards (170 on 26 carries) he also caught three passes for 25 yards.
“I just give it all to the offensive line,” West said after the game. “These last few games, they’ve really stepped up … and have just been playing great.”
West was a member of the Cougars 2014 Class 6A Championship team, although he missed the final stretch of that season with an injury.
