Senate candidate Doug Jones called for an end to divisiveness during a Saturday night campaign rally in Birmingham, BirminghamWatch reports. During a get-out-the-vote rally featuring a performance from Alabama natives St. Paul and the Broken Bones, Jones called his opponent, Roy Moore, “divisive” and “a disaster for the face of this state.”
The event was one of several Jones held Friday, including a concert in Huntsville featuring country star (and Alabama native) Jason Isbell.
During his speech, Jones also called for a rejection of automatic partisanship when assessing political candidates.
“We’ve got to get out of that mindset,” he said. “We need to have a mindset when someone stands up and puts themselves out to run for political office, the question they need to be asked is, ‘What is your purpose?’ Do not let any label define you.’
The Alabama Senate election will take place on Tuesday, Dec. 12.

Mr. Fortenberry I’m a center left democrat (it’s not a character flaw) and I very much would like to see our country stop being so partisan. I have conservative Republican friends that feel the same way. I don’t care who you are or who you support..the toxicity and divisiveness in our politics is a bad thing. And both sides are to blame. Neither party has a monopoly on wisdom, patriotism, or the right answers.

And I just saw the most disgusting TV ad by Jones. His ads get more disgusting as the election draws near. He is very desperate. I have yet to hear EITHER candidate say anything about real issues. All they do look is talk about rumors and accusations from 30-40 years ago. Is there not anything more important going on in our state and nation?

If a politician is talking…..they are probably lying. I pay NO attention to their words, only their actions.
