UPDATE: 9:09 p.m. – Roy Moore now only leads Doug Jones by about 7,000 votes. Moore has 49.6 percent (522,226) to Jones’ 48.9 percent (515,187).
Republican Senate candidate Roy Moore currently, as of 8:45 p.m., leads Democratic candidate Doug Jones in Tuesday’s special election for a seat in the Senate.
With around 64 percent of the precincts reporting in Moore led Jones 394, 563 votes to 356,300.
In Trussville, with two of the three precincts reporting in (First Baptist Trussville and City Hall), Moore had 63 percent of the vote compared to Jones with 35 percent. Less than two percent of the votes were write-in, with voter turnout on par with presidential election levels.
