BIRMINGHAM — A YWCA building in downtown Birmingham had to be briefly evacuated due to a fire Saturday night, according to WVTM 13.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue responded to the scene around 7:45 p.m. Saturday night after smoke was seen in the building.
Multiple people inside the establishment were evacuated as a precaution, with authorities later determining the smoke was coming from a fire inside an outside wall.
There were no injuries caused by the fire, with residents being allowed back inside the building after about an hour.
A fire official believes the conflagration may have been caused by an electrical issue.
