BIRMINGHAM — A 15-year-old boy was fatally shot in the chest Saturday afternoon, AL.com reports.
The shooting reportedly took place at around 1:30 p.m. at a convenience store a few blocks from Rickwood Field. Police said they did not yet know the motive behind the shooting, and did not provide information about any suspects. The victim’s identity is currently unknown.
The death marks Birmingham’s 108th homicide for 2017, bringing it close to last year’s total of 109.
