MUSCLE SHOALS —Rick Hall, the founder of FAME Recording Studios in Muscle Shoals, has passed away Tuesday at the age of 85 after battling cancer, according to the TimesDaily in Florence.
Hall was a record producer famous for pioneering the Muscle Shoals sound while working with artists like Wilson Pickett, Aretha Franklin, Etta James and Clarence Carter.
He later worked with other artists like The Osmonds, Tom Jones, Paul Anka, Mac Davis, Jerry Reed, Ronnie Milsap, Barbara Mandrell, Shenandoah.
Hall was named Producer of the Year for the World by Billboard in 1971. He was inducted into the Alabama Music Hall of Fame in 1985.
