Driver killed after vehicle strikes guardrail, overturns

CULLMAN COUNTY — A Cullman woman was killed Wednesday afternoon in a single-vehicle crash, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.

Kendra Elizabeth Johnson, 34, was killed when the 2002 Chevrolet pickup she was driving struck a guardrail and overturned on Cullman County 1223 two miles west of Vinemont.

The crash occurred around 4:45 p.m. Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene.

Joshua Robert Mentzer, 21, of Hanceville was an injured occupant. He was airlifted to Huntsville Hospital.

Neither occupant was wearing a seatbelt.

Nothing further is available as Alabama State Troopers continue to investigate.
