I really wish you wouldn’t post things like this… it hurts the local family that is already trying to deal with a loss of a loved one.

Oh no! This breaks my heart. People matter; all people, all the time. I hope that anyone else who is suicidal will seek help when their thoughts turn dark. If that’s you, just remember that there are a lot of people who care, people who don’t want this outcome for you.

I know her sister and they are good people. Don’t be quick to judge. ❤️

Prayers for the family! She was in my class at HT. I know the family has had more than their share of hardships in the last few years. Please remember to put yourself in this family’s shoes before you throw out a comment. You never know what someone has been through.

The Trussville Tribune did not state anything nasty or disgusting only facts. I am sorry but we can’t filter out what news we report based on whose feelings it may hurt. And again with all due respect we have to keep in mind once incarcerated there is NO expectation of privacy. The public has the right to know how and why this happened, why was there not better supervision? How can this be prevented going forward? Rather than attacking media outlets for doing their jobs and reporting local news you all could look into how you can help the family of this woman combat that jail system in a legal setting. They should sue at every level that failed to prevent this from those on guard duty that should have been patrolling to the ones responsible for watching the camera screens.

What did the Tribune post that was not factual? Again being upset by it does not make it wrong. And when something like this happens in the public jail system, it is public business. There are people to be held accountable.

You make some good points, however her name and picture did not have to be released at this time. They should have only stated a 25 yr old female, at least until speaking with the family who should determine when her identity should be released. That’s only my opinion. I’m certain had this family been known to The Trussville Tribune it would have been “reported” in more delicate manner, if they reported it at all.

Jessie Odell No just a resident with an opinion same as you.

    Brittany Colee Kennemur

Why exactly does the public “need” to know this? You think by a “news” article being shared this will prevent another tragedy? If so, why does her name need to be shared? Let this family grieve. They have been through enough 😞

Picture was from years ago which portrays her as a junkie in fact she was off drugs and going to classes and stuff to get her kid back sec what if she was strangled funny investigation is still going on havnt even done autopsy

Prayers for the family. I know a lot of people in Trussville knew this family and will be upset that this happened to Kathleen. Let’s hope that the sadness and anger over her death will be used to make sure others don’t happen. May peace be with you, Kathleen.

This is so tacky to post this when it’s such a terrible tragedy. This is a good family and they are grieving right now. How sad.

Praying for the family of this young woman. A family struggling with addiction is always targeted by local media as an immediate headline. This is so tragic and continues to happen too often.

Sue at every level?? Walk among them?? Have you ever been inside the county jail. Every cell don’t have cameras, are going to walk unarmed locked in a block with average 300 inmates a floor. You can not prevent this if somebody want to harm themself and are you speaking for the tribune because it sounds like you are.

  32. 36

    Jacquelyn Pair Underwood

Very tacky! Trussville tribune should be ashamed. Prayers for the family. Everyone matters even if you make some bad choices. So sad.

She was in jail. She has NO rights. Everything is now a matter of public record —- once you get booked in any jail. Period. They don’t have to have permission!!!

She isn’t a Trussville resident. That picture is a few yrs old. That’s not her mugshot from the other day. She didn’t go to court yet. Take this down

lol are you really trying to say that a news outlet can only publish stories about people who live in some certain place? Like… the Washington Post can only publish articles about residents of Washington D.C.?

I have a hard time believing these details are anybody’s business. The picture does NOT represent Kathleen in any way, and all it does is cause her family pain and give some people something to talk about that in no way affects them. Her family deserves privacy right now as they grieve the loss of a beloved family member and try to figure out how life will go forward without her. Please be respectful to this good family that I have known for many years.

This is incredibly insensible. Whether or not she was an inmate, she deserves respect. To my knowledge, she has not inflected harm onto anyone but rather suffered severe mental illness with obvious signs of major depression. This is a tragic result of the state not funding mental health and assuming throwing someone behind bars will fix the individual. This is incredibly sad considering suicide is 100% preventable and she was not given a fighting chance. How dare people say she’s not entitled to basic access to healthcare and rights because she’s in the prison system. How dare you insult an epidemic issue that you have not had to endure yourself. It is not okay to remember her on these terms and utilize her depression as an outlet for you to receive more “likes”. The picture you chose to share of a beautiful, young woman who the state passed along clearly shows your true colors Trussville Tribune.

I agree with this so much. Unfortunately they’ve been deleting comments and then banning the people from commenting again. Her family has came out and said this picture is 2 years old and the story is inaccurate. Im so disgusted by this and I think its the last straw for me. I will be unfollowing this page.

I am glad that the final judge is GOD and only GOD !!! This family is a wonderful and very devastated family right now ! Show some respect ! The Trussville Tribune did what they thought was right . There is a time and place and Facebook is not the right place to argue about this and there will never be a right time for this family ! This was a sad tragedy and people arguing about it is only making it worst ! I love this family and they deserve privacy and respect !!!!!!!!!!
