JEFFERSON COUNTY – Police from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man and a woman for robbery and drug-related charges as well as failure to register as ex-felons. They were arrested for an alleged involvement in a robbery of a Family Dollar Store located in Forestdale on Jan. 25.
According to JCSO, Rodney Dewayne Watters, 46, and Michelle Renee Meadows, 48, came to the store to pick up several items but attempted to leave without paying for them. Watters was confronted by a female employee and a fight broke out between the two.
The employee’s boyfriend arrived shortly after the fight began to pick her up and became involved.
Meadows allegedly attempted to flee with the items as the fight took place, according to JCSO. Police were called to the scene just before noon where they arrested Watters at the scene. Meadows was apprehended and arrested a short distance from the store.
Watters was charged with two counts of robbery in the second degree, assault in the third degree, illegal possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to register as an ex-felon.

Watters was held at the Jefferson County Jail where he posted bail and was released pending court proceedings. Meadows is currently being held at the Jefferson County Jail on a ,300 bond.
