BIRMINGHAM –Police are investigating after a man fell from a third floor of a Birmingham motel balcony after possibly being stabbed. The incident occurred at King’s Inn or Third Avenue North in the downtown area.
Birmingham police sergeant John Callahan said officers initially answered a call for fighting, but found that a man had fallen from the balcony.
Police weren’t sure if the possible knife wounds we’re self inflicted or caused by someone else. Callahan said two other people were in the room with the victim prior to the fall.
Outside of the third floor room, there were what appeared to be blood smears and hand prints on the walls and window.
Callahan said the victim was conscious, but critically injured when he was transported to UAB Hospital.
