From The Trussville Tribune staff reports
TRUSSVILLE –The crack of the bat is already sounding in Trussville and the Hewitt-Trussville High School baseball boosters are getting the season off to a big start with a Homerun Derby for all ages on Saturday.
The event is free for spectators and $10 for participants. There will also be food trucks on site with plenty of culinary options as well as additional vendors.
For the $10 entry fee, hitters get 10 pitches and a t-shirt.
The derby gets underway at 1 p.m. with the third through fifth graders hitting until 2;45 p.m. At 3 p.m., middle school age players in grades six through eight get their turn at bat until 4 p.m.
From 4 p.m. until 5:45 p.m. adults 18 and over get to relive their glory days or find out that the glory is gone. This may turn out to be the most entertaining time slot of the day.
At 5:45 p.m. until 7 p.m., it’s the high school hitters who will be bashing the ball. This group includes grades nine through 12.
The event will be at Phil English Field located behind Hewitt-Trussville Middle School.
