From The Trussville Trbune staff reports
BIRMINGHAM –After graduating track star Noah Igbinoghene to Auburn football, Hewitt-Trussville coach David Dobbs was facing rebuilding year for the Huskies’ track program, or so one would think. But, as he has done so many times before, Dobbs had more athletes ready to pile up enough points for a top 10 finish by both the boys and girls teams in the Alabama State Indoor Championships at the Crossplex in Birmingham.

Hope Igbinoghene, Skyler Nelson, Sydney White, and Kelsey Martin took 2nd in the 4X400M relay setting a school record along the way.

The girls team walked away with a sixth place finish, just a point and a half behind fifth place Thompson. The Hewitt-Trussville boys claimed eighth place, trailing Mountain Brook by a single point.
Noah Igbinoghene’s younger sister, Hope Igbinoghene, was the individual leader for the girls in the running events. She posted finishes of second and third in the girls 60M and 400M dashes respectively.
Lea Townsend powered her way to a third place finish in the shotput as the individual leader in field events.
The girls 4X400M relay team of Igbinoghene, Skyler Nelson, Sydney White, and Kelsey Martin roared to a second place finish and a school record.
On the boys side, Jake Diggs is the new 7A state champion in the 400M Dash.
In the field events, Zachary McManus led the way with a third place finish in the long jump. Gaines Myrick grabbed fourth in shotput while Stone Shelnutt took sixth and eleventh in pole vault and long jump.
