From The Trussville Tribune staff reports
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Secretary of Law Enforcement, Hal Taylor, appointed John Q. Hamm as the new director of the State Bureau of Investigation. He has previously served as Governmental Affairs Director at ALEA since 2014.
“I am honored that Governor Ivey and Secretary Taylor have the trust and confidence in me to lead the State Bureau of Investigation,” he said. “I look forward to working with the great men and women of this organization to provide services to the citizens and other law enforcement agencies in Alabama.”
Hamm began as a dispatcher in 1985 before becoming a patrolman. From there he has served as a state investigator, in federal law enforcement, and was elected Sheriff of Barbour County.
“I am proud to announce my appointment of John Hamm as Director of the State Bureau of Investigation,” Taylor said. “John has been a dedicated public servant for over 30 years and brings a vision of excellence that will continue SBI’s prominence as a premiere investigative bureau.”
