From The Trussville Tribune staff reports
Anybody who has taken part in the Mercedes-Benz Marathon or will be doing so over the weekend can head to the TherapySouth locations in the Trussville and Clay/Pinson areas for free post-marathon screenings on Monday.
Participants can be screened by TherapySouth’s physical therapists for any concerns or problems that might have resulted from running in the marathon, which began on Feb. 9 and will end on Feb. 11.
The Mercedes-Benz Marathon began shortly after Paul and Cinna Sotherland’s son, Matt, survived a dangerous heart condition as a child. He had also been diagnosed with Down syndrome.
Paul Cinna made a promise to Matt to begin running marathons if he made it through a heart procedure.
Taking inspiration from the story of the Cinna family, Valerie McLean founded the Mercedes-Benz Marathon to help raise funds for the Bell Center, where Matt Cinna had been to receive therapy. The marathon is now in its seventeenth year.
TherapySouth will hold its free screenings on Feb. 12 from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m.
The Trussville office is located at 1423 Gadsden Highway. The Clay/Pinson office is listed as 6723 Deerfoot Parkway in Pinson.
