MIDFIELD — Detectives from the Birmingham Police Department are investigating a homicide that took place today in Midfield.
At around 2:44 a.m. officers from the West Precinct responded to a report of someone being shot at the 2900 block of S.J. Bennett Drive in Midfield. When they arrived at the scene, they discovered the victim lying on the sidewalk with what appeared to be a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
The victim was identified as Curlie Jamal Burns, 22, of Midfield.
No suspects have been brought in. Police continue to investigate the case.
