BIRMINGHAM — An unloaded gun was discovered during an unannounced locker check at Bush Hills Academy in Birmingham, according to a report by Carol Robinson.
Police were called to the K-8 school where they confiscated the weapon, which was found in an athletic bag.
Two students in connection with the gun were suspended, following efforts by Birmingham City Schools to prevent shootings similar to the Huffman High School and Parkland, FL tragedies. The students, both eighth graders, were held by police but were eventually released into the custody of their parents.
