MONTGOMERY — Alabama Second Amendment, a gun rights advocacy group, has announced that it’s filing an “emergency” lawsuit against Alabama State Attorney Steve Marshall. The group also plans to hold a press conference and rally on the steps of the attorney general’s office in Montgomery.
“By Constitutional Amendment and Statute, the people of Alabama and our Legislature have clearly voiced their imperative obligation to protect their families and their communities,” said Aaron Smith, a founding member of Alabama Second Amendment. “If Attorney General Marshall won’t listen to them, maybe he’ll listen to the highest court in the land.”
The group has stated that it will be filing the lawsuit in reaction to what they said was Marshall’s inaction on “rogue government actors” that “manipulate the law to prevent law-abiding citizens from exercising their right to bear arms.”
The group’s press conference will be held at 11:30 a.m. on March 21.
