CENTER POINT — The Center Point High School’s field and track team has been awarded a grant by Alabama Power, according to the Jefferson County Board of Education. Representatives will present the “Power to Play” award grant to the team at the school on April 14.
The “Power to Play” grant is a program aimed at arts and athletics in Alabama high schools.
“This award’s purpose is to offer new sports for students, and/or increase the number of students within an existing sport,” JeffCoed said in a statement. “Studies prove that students who participate in athletics perform better in the classroom and are more likely to graduate from high school, among other benefits.”
The award will be presented at the Lecture Hall at Center Point High School at 12:30 p.m. The high school is located at 1000 Eagle Point Dr. in Center Point.
