From The Trussville Tribune staff reports
TRUSSVILLE — With weather permitting, the Alabama Department of Transportation will close lanes on I-59 and I-459 starting on March 26 at 8 p.m. until 5 a.m. to repair concrete pavement.
The right lane of I-59 northbound from the I-459 Interchange to the north end of the bridge over Edwards Lake Road will close first. Once work to that lane is finished, the left will be closed for repairs. When that’s finished, operations will move to southbound where the process will be repeated.
After work on I-59 is completed, ALDOT will close the left lane of I-459 southbound for concrete repairs. When that’s completed, work will be shifted to the two right lanes. Ramps will remain open though they’ll be narrowed to allow for the repairs.
Operations will change to the northbound lane after work with the southbound is completed. The right lane will close before work changes to the two left lanes.
ALDOT estimates that the time it takes for the operation to be completed is approximately three weeks. Drivers are asked to consider using alternate routes, adjust times for arrival and departure, observe work zone speed limits and signs, and use extreme caution in these areas.
