Bearden was first fired in 2016 but was rehired after a reaction from students and community members. In 2017, he tendered his resignation to the Jefferson County Board of Education when allegations were made that he had sexual contact with a student.
Bearden had been a teacher for three years at PVHS and is a native of Clay. He is accused of touching a student’s buttocks for sexual gratification. A grand jury indicted him on March 9 and he was booked in the Jefferson County Jail before being released.
An inmate inquiry search on the Jefferson County Sheriff’s website listed his bond as $15,000.
According to Carol Robinson, the alleged crime by Bearden is a felony charge.
