From The Trussville Tribune staff reports
TRUSSVILLE –The wait is over for an Alabama legacy. Hewitt-Trussville’s Paul Tyson, the great grandson of Paul “Bear” Bryant, will play football for the University of Alabama.
Tyson led the Huskies to an undefeated regular season as a junior and enters his senior campaign as one of the top quaterbacks in the state.
“I have enjoyed the recruiting process and really tried to be open minded,” Tyson said. “It came down to Coach Key, Coach Enos, and Coach Saban asking me to commit now.”
Tyson stirred memories of his great grandfather who famously said of his return to Tuscaloosa as head coach, “Mama called.”
“I felt the same calling that my great grandfather had when he was asked to come home,” Tyson said. “Alabama is home and that’s where I want to spend my college career.’
Tyson thanked his family and coaches for their support and said he would now focus on the upcoming season and help Alabama recruit the 2019 class. He’ll join teammate Pierce Quick who has already committed to the Crimson Tide.
