BIRMINGHAM — The Alabama Department of Transportation has rescheduled the reopening of I-59/20 Southbound.
The road was closed for emergency repairs due to a construction project that created a potentially hazardous situation for drivers. The reopening was set for tomorrow but has been pushed back to Wednesday, April 11.
“I-59 Soundbound.is closed at the I-65 Interchange due to construction activities that occurred and created an unsafe condition,” ALDOT said in a statement. “The I-65 ramps to I-65 Northbound and South will remain open. Detour will be to use I-65 Northbound to 16th Street and then use I-65 South to return to I-59 Southbound.”
