From The Trussville Tribune staff reports
Are you a pet owner or love animals? Today is National Pet Day, a day dedicated to celebrating your furry (or non furry friends).
This unofficial day was created 12 years ago by an Animal Welfare Advocate and Lifestyle expert, Colleen Paige, to commemorate pets and the joy they bring to our homes.
Paige also created the day to shine the light on all animals in shelters around the world.
Today remember to take some time out of your day and do something nice either for your own or many other pets in shelters or rescue. Buy a new toy or treat, go for a walk or drive, adopt a pet, donate to the local shelter, or better yet, volunteer.
After all, pets are an important part of our lives and do so much for us. Shouldn’t we show them how much we love and appreciate them?
