HOOVER — Paul Edward Acton Bowen, 37, an evangelist from Gadsden and founder of Acton Bowen Outreach Ministries, was arrested by Hoover police and charged with several child sex abuse offenses, according to Carol Robinson.
Bowen was charged with sodomy in the second degree, enticing a child for immoral purposes and sexual abuse in the second degree that was upgraded to a felony, according to an inmate profile on the Jefferson County Sheriff’s website. The alleged victim in the case is a male that is over 12 years old and under 16.
The investigation on Bowen began three weeks ago by the Special Victim’s Unit at the Hoover Police Department. After the county district attorney issued warrants on Monday, Bowen was arrested in Pelham.
He is being held at the Jefferson County Jail on a $90,300 bond.
