HUNTSVILLE –Hewitt-Trussville traveled to Grissom on Tuesday for what began as a methodical softball game. That all changed in the final two innings when the Lady Huskies unleashed an offensive barrage that resulted in a 19-3 blowout win.
Hewitt took a one run lead in the first on a solo homer by Abigail Dorsett. The Huskies added two runs in the third inning and another in the fourth for a 4-0 lead.
Grissom answered with a three run homer by Glo Vaughn in the bottom of the fourth to make it a 4-3 game.
Then the fireworks started.
The Huskies exploded for 15 runs, putting across eight and seven runs in the sixth and seventh innings, respectively.
Hewitt hitters blasted three homeruns in the in the 7th inning. Tate Mosely went yard, her second dinger of the night, along with Kailey Walters and Crystal Maze.
Abi Inman went 4 of 5 at the plate while Dorsett collected 3 hits.
