ODENVILLE – Brothers Chad Camp and Brian Camp are agents with Lovejoy Realty, a company based in Odenville that sells commercial, residential, land, farm and recreational properties. Lovejoy Realty was founded by Lyman Lovejoy and has been in business for 47 years, having first opened in 1971.
“We do a lot of things different here,” Chad Camp said. “Lovejoy has been in the real estate business since 1971. Everybody knows the Lovejoy name. It’s a strong name.”
But not only do the brothers work for Lovejoy, they have their own brands. Chad Camp has Alabama Land Agent and has been in the real estate business since 2002.
“What I do is I listen to people,” he said. “What they want and then I try to, like a funnel, I try to drive it right into exactly what they’re looking for.”
In more recent years, Chad Camp has specialized in selling land, especially subdivision lots and lake properties. He also lists and sells farmland, timber tracts and rural home properties.
“Business has been good for me,” he said. “I’ve been very blessed that during the recession, most realtors were not out there working. Most of them had to get other jobs. I was still out there working because I cover such a large territory.”
His main area, he said, is St. Clair County, but has also done business in Blount County, as well as Etowah, Talladega and Shelby counties.
“From a listing perspective, one of the things that I focus on that I enjoy doing is creating a setting for listings by creating maps through Google mapping and doing aerial-drawn shots of the property,” he said.
Chad Camp said that he dedicates time to helping people find the right kind of property for them, making sure that they know what they’re looking at and to think about.
“I spend a lot of time trying to make sure I create a setting for a property that describes it,” he said. “Almost like a literary description, like a journey that you’re going on.”
Brian Camp describes himself as both a realtor and a home builder. Also an employee for Lovejoy Realty, Brian Camp’s brand is Waterstone Homes, which he started several years ago. He has had over 20 years of experience in real estate.
“We can build just about anything,” he said. “It’s just a matter of financing. We sell commercial, lake property, industrial. Over the years we’ve helped counties get new school sites. We helped get Jenkins Brick to the Moody area.”
Brian Camp’s background includes construction and mechanical engineering before he decided to go into real estate. He said that details are important to him in his work as he helps families selling properties, finding land and building homes.
“With my background as an engineer I’m a very detailed person,” he said. “I try to stay on top of my business, on top of my projects. I may not always be the cheapest, but I want to make sure that it’s a good job, good quality.”
